Trey 3005 THE SPECTOR THREE - Mr. Robin / My Heart Stood Still USA 1960 (Spector) - Mint-

The rarer of the two singles. And for my money, the more interesting one as well. On "Mr. Robin", we get a young Phil Spector singing a cheerful lead melody about heartbreak/loss. A great contrast. Which one might think would be hard to beat, but then the b-side has the trio covering "My Heart Stood Still", in a creepy, slow funereal time, and with a matching macabre harmony, to emphasize (AGAIN) the contrast in the songs themes of love and death.

Phil Spector (guitar, vocals), Ricki Page (vocals), Russ Titelman (guitar)
